Quick Tips and Products That Help Keep Your Personal Information Safe

As our world becomes increasingly more digital, it's no surprise that criminals have, too. In the last year, 30 percent of U.S. consumers were notified of data breaches that could potentially result in the compromise of their personal information. According to the 2018 Identity Fraud: Fraud Enters a New Era of Complexity (Javelin Strategy & Research, 2017), there were 16.7 million victims of identity theft/fraud.

While there are certain steps you can take to avoid being a victim of identity theft, there are also a number of new products to help keep your personal information safe as well.

Some tips to help you avoid identity theft include:

• Avoid using apps or websites that contain your personal or financial information while on public WiFi
• If you must enter your personal information in any public place, be sure no one is attempting to watch you enter it
• Do not provide personal or financial information in response to a suspicious email, especially those claiming to be unpaid bills, invoices, or charges for a service you did not request
